Sony YY3008 – New Earbuds?
Apart from the newly discovered YY3006, I also found another new model, YY3008 (HDX-3008) in an import listing. The information from the listing seems to imply this is most likely a over-ear headset, possibly with a touch panel (circuit board pad), see update 9 below.
One of the parts is a speaker holder, so this definitely an over-ear model. But these are just parts for the new model, so still early days. It might be a while before this model appear on a certification sites. If this is a wireless model, it could either be the WH-CH530 or WH-CH730N, assuming Sony keeps the model names for future models. Whatever it is, I do not think it will be out this year, but I could be wrong.
So with this new model, we have 6 new unreleased models for the future.
- YY2985 – WF-1000XM6
- YY2990 – Gaming headset?
- YY2998 – Bluetooth over-ears model
- Y3004 – IER-EX15C
- YY3006 – Over-ear model
- YY3008 – Over-ear model
Only YY3004 has a certification (Korean) so far, and if we use an average of 3-4 months from certification to release, we could see this model announced sometime in September, maybe early October. I know people are looking forward to the new WF-1000XM6, but I do not have any new information. Either Sony has delayed the model and is improving it, or it was never meant to be released this summer. Any small updates will go into the original WF-1000XM6 post, or if is a certification, it will go up as a separate post.
Update 9 – July 27
Sony throwing another curveball with these new import filings for HDX-3008, and if the details from the import are to be believed, then YY3008 should be a set of wireless earbuds, based off the TNP-SON030 model name from Cresyn. The filings show 5 different entries for TNP-SON030, which could be the 5 different colours for the new model. Unfortunately the description is cut off, so the colour details will remain a mystery for now.

- BTP – wireless over-ear headsets
- HPP – wired headsets
- TNP – wireless earbuds
- EPP- wired in-ear (IER)
- EMP – wired in-ear (MDR)
If this is a new set of wireless earbuds, then we have a few candidates for what model this could be. First, a new WF-C520 replacing the WF-C510 which was announced in August 2026., a new ULT set of earbuds, and finally the 10th anniversary WF-1000XX. I do not believe this to be the WF-1000XX as Goertek would be manufacturer and not Cresyn, so we are left with WF-C520 or ULT earbuds. Unless it is an entirely new model. Although the potential 5 colour options from the filing could point more towards a WF-C520. YY3008 is up on Sony’s server, so it could be announced later this year, but this is not guaranteed, and a 2027 reveal is also possible.
Update 8 – July 6
New import filing just popped up. Nothing major is revealed, but I suspect whatever model this is, it is already in production. The description does mention a fixed speaker, so additional support for an over-ear model.
Crazy to think that I first wrote about this model back in September 2025, and we are in July 2026, with very little information what this could be.
Update 7 – June 19
New imports from early May. Just moulds for the housing for now. Still no certification anywhere though. The model is scheduled for a 2026 announcement/release, so maybe we will see certifications in the second half of the year.
Update 6 – June 13
In update 3 I mentioned Goertek as the importer, but perhaps it is not the manufacturer, as I have found an import filing with Cresyn also mentioned in context with YY3008.
The description is also rather interesting, “headphones hooded bluetooth”. So I searched for other imports with the same title, and another Sony headset popped up, YY3005. So based off this, it would make sense YY3008 to be an over-ear model. From what I know, YY3008 should be released in 2026. Still waiting for at least one certification somewhere.
Update 5 – June 2
Import filings for moulds for various parts of the headset, like case top, middle housing, housing rear, and button. The details as of this update seem to point to a over-ear model, but I have no confirmation.
I have received confirmation that this model should be released this year. I do not have an exact timeframe, but it might be closer to the end of the year. As the headset was described as “wireless Bluetooth headphones”, there will need to be certifications, which should reveal any potential release details.
Update 4 – May 11
An import filing for a housing jigs, front and rear L/R sections, perhaps for assembly? The import filings to date lack have been ambiguous when it comes to their descriptions, so it is difficult to pinpoint whether this is an over-ear model or earbuds. We will need to wait for a FCC filing to find out what kind of model this is. If anyone has any details they would like to share, please contact me.
Update 3 – February 25
These are not new import filings, but the same ones from the November 19 update. These filings reveal the headset being exported from Vietnam by Goertek, and being imported into China by Goertek. So perhaps for some testing, or checking to see if the pre-production units meet the specs? No idea.
Update 2 – December 13
We have more import filings, not of the actual headset, but parts for the headset. The import filings mention a hinge which could be for the recharging case when you open it?
Update – November 19
We have our first update, still an import filing but it does reveal a charging box, which would be the charging case for earbuds. So the information in this import filing seems to contradict the information from earlier in the year. If this is a set of earbuds, it could be a new model or because I do not believe it would replace the WF-C710N which only just came out in March of this year.
