Sony Xperia will have 2 models in 2026

Thanks to a SIM database, we know that Sony will have 2 Xperia models in 2026. The new model, PM-153x could be the lower end Xperia 10 VIII. Thanks to everyone who messaged me and sent this in.

The database has also added a fourth possible Xperia 1 VIII variant, PM-1524-BV. As I have speculated in the previous post, this new addition might be a Japanese carrier specific model, perhaps Softbank. We are still missing PM-1520-BV and PM-1525-BV. If PM-1520-BV appears, it should confirm a release for Europe, as I suspect this is the European variant based off the Xperia 1 VII list.

The second mode, PM-153x, already has 6 variants in the database.

  • PM-1530-BV
  • PM-1531-BV
  • PM-1532-BV
  • PM-1533-BV
  • PM-1534-BV
  • PM-1555-BV

If this is the new Xperia 10 VIII, then it should receive a release in Europe next year. Whether this will be again in the Fall, is unknown, I am guessing yes. Will be interesting what changes and improvements Sony brings to the lower end. The additional of LE Audio and LC3 would be welcome, but I have my doubts.

This is all speculation right now based off this year’s models, so things can and will change. Btw I am aware there is no evidence to suggest PM-152x is the 1 VIII, it could well be the 10 VIII. But in past model generations, VII, V, IV, III and II, the Xperia 1’s model codes preceded the 10s, but not in generations VI or the I. So even Sony is not consistent with their own codes.

Update – November 28

We now have the full list of variants on the SIM site. Both models have 6 variants like the current Xperia 1 and 10 VII. This would suggest we will see an EU release in 2026.

  • PM-1520-BV
  • PM-1521-BV
  • PM-1522-BV
  • PM-1523-BV
  • PM-1524-BV
  • PM-1525-BV
  • PM-1530-BV
  • PM-1531-BV
  • PM-1532-BV
  • PM-1533-BV
  • PM-1534-BV
  • PM-1535-BV
