Sony YY3005 – New Mysterious Headset
A new unknown headset has appeared in import listings, HDX-3005, or YY3005. The description is rather puzzling, but it does include the word “shawl”, the same term is used in other models, the term does not always seem to correspond to the type of headset, in-ear or over-ear.

But the HS code, 85183020 does seem to point to an in-ear model, either earbuds or wired headset (IER). And I suspect this might be another in-ear model with USB type-C connector, rather than 3.5mm. This model comes right after YY3004, IER-EX15C, and is also made by Cresyn, the same manufacturer that makes the IER-EX15C as well.
Btw I will point out that most of these resent models, YY3005, YY3006 and YY3008 could still be many many months away. Recall my YY3004 post from February 2025, it took a good 3 months before we saw the one certification from Korea. The YY3004 announcement was in early September, so 7 months from first post to announcement. So if any of these models are not wireless, then we will only see Korean certifications, and future announcements closer to Summer 2026.
So my guess, another in-ear wired model with USB type-C connector, maybe mid to upper segment?
Update 3 – March 27
New import filings, this time for BTP-SONO28. These new filings from January 2026 add additional support for this model being an over-ear headset. We can see what appears to be colour options for this model, with blue and pink in the descriptions.
I decided to dig deeper and look for more listings and found what appears to be all the colours. It appears that this model will have a total of 6 different colour options.
- Black
- White
- Blue
- Pink
- Mint Green
- Red

The last time we saw red was in the h.ear on 3 line from 2019. So could we see a return of the h.ear on line? I doubt it. I suspect this model could be a new WH-CH520 successor based on these colours, but it could be something completely different.
Update 2 – March 18
Some additional import listings have appeared. The first group of listings is for steel molds for various parts of the headset. One of the molds is for a headband piece, revealing that YY3005 is an over-ear model. Other parts in the listing include hanger L and R, and housing L and R.
A while back, I discovered another Sony model, BTP-SON028, but the listing did not include any YY/HDX code.

It has been a while since I saw a BTP-SON0xx model, the last being BTP-SON022 (WH-CH520). The model before SON028, is SON027 (HPP-SON027), which is YY2990, or the upcoming INZONE MDR-G600 wired gaming headset. The SON028 import listing is also for variouls molds, but no part descriptions were included in the listing.
I connected the 2 listings through the mold codes, TY######. For example, TY251119, for the headband mold. appears in both HDX3005 and SON028. Obviously YY3005 (HDX-3005) and BTP-SON028 are the same model, with YY3005/HDX-3005 being Sony’s own model code, and BTP-SON028 most likely Cresyn’s internal code for the model.

Looking through past models and codes, I think I have figured out Cresyn’s naming scheme for the most part.
- BTPÂ – wireless over-ear headsets
- HPP – wired headsets
- TNP – wireless earbuds
- EPP- wired in-ear (IER)
- EMP – wired in-ear (MDR)
So BTP-SON028 would be a wireless over-ear model according to list, matching the HDX3005 description. The importer/buyer of these molds is Cresyn Hanoi Company Ltd. Cresyn is a manufacturer Sony has used in the past for various headsets, so this tracks.

The importer of HDX-3005 is Sony (China) Ltd WUXI Software Center. Possibly importing the headset for further development, maybe the firmware? Or some kind of testing in house?

And by sheer coincidence, import listings for Sony (China) Ltd WUXI Software Center show HDX-3005 and HDX-2958, which is WH-CH520.

So while not confirmed, there is a good chance YY3005 is the replacement for WH-CH520. Lots of the details match up, it is an over-ear headset, is manufactured by Cresyn, and imported into the same Sony facility as the WH-CH520. Or it could just be coincidence.
Update – February 21
Some new import filings from December 2025, showing various parts, like a slider. Could this suggest an over-ear model? There are also volume buttons. The detail “RESIN OF LED LIGHTS FOR PHONE HEADSET LED LENS”, is a bit puzzling. It could be a button/LED on the headset for a dedicated phone button, which can light up? But that is just me guess. The “MF BUTTON” could be a multi-function button.
