Sony YY3015, Uh what is it?

A new model code has appeared in the Apple’s MFi database, YY3015. The entry is a bit puzzling. Normally when a new Sony headset appears in the MFi database, it has 6 entries for the 6 different regions.

These region codes correspond to the various areas around the world.

• UC – US, Canadian and Latin American
• CE7 – European area, East European area, CIS area (Moldova, Ukraine) and Middle East area (Israel) models
• E – CIS area (Except for Moldova, Ukraine), Middle East area (Except for Israel), South East Asian area (Except for India), East Asian area (Except for China), Oceania area, African area and Tourist models
• CN – China
• IN – India
• J – Japan

Except, the YY3015 has only one entry in the database. This is not a wireless speaker as it is listed in the Headsets & Headset Adapters category. Another oddity is the UPC/EAN, 111111111111, almost as if someone had to enter a number for the filing and decided to just enter all 1s.

So what are we looking at? And why is there only 1 entry? My first thought was a USB-C headset, but Sony’s IER-EX15C (YY3004) is not listed on MFi, even though it is compatible with Apple’s products. Could it be an error? Will we get additional entries?

A MFi certification is for all “Made for Apple” accessories, so it might not even be wireless and might actually be a wired USB-C model.

If it is a wired headset only, then we might only see a South Korean certification in the future, otherwise no other certs will appear. Hopefully some import filings appear in the future. I have no idea if entries from the database can be removed, so perhaps this one will once I post this up.

Update 3 – July 8

The mystery continues. On Sony’s support site when searching for YY3015, this is what is shows up in the results., the ULT Wear.

This is the second instance where the ULT Wear and YY3015 have been linked, the first time being in the Bluetooth SIG certification in my first update. Searching for YY2981 also leads to the same product page, so is this a glitch from Sony, or hinting at something else? If anyone has anymore information, please contact me.

Update 2 – June 13

While looking through the Indian Bureau of Standards, I found YY3015 in a listing. It was certified on April 21st, which is before my first update when I posted about the model appearing on Bluetooth SIG. YY2981 is also listed, which is the ULT Wear, so perhaps Sony will be updating the ULT Wear into YY3015? I do know that the headset is not planned for 2026, but that could change.

Update 1 – May 8

When I was writing up the recent 2026 Bravia post, I decided to check if by any new Sony models were on Bluetooth SIG. To my surprise, one new model showed up, YY3015. The next revelation was that YY3015 was grouped together with the ULT Wear (WH-ULT900N).

This seems like an error, considering WH-ULT900N is YY2981. No doubt after this is posted, the listing will be removed. Hopefully whatever model this is, will show up on other certification websites in the near future.
