Sony YY3005 (WH-C520 Successor) Certified on the FCC
The Sony YY3005 has been certified by the FCC. I first wrote about this model back in November 2025 when it appeared in import filings. Now with the FCC certification, we know for certain this is an over-ear wireless model without any noise cancellation.
Gathering all the information, like the various colour options, Cresyn as the manufacturer, and that CTK Co Ltd is performing the certification work, I am certain this model is the WH-CH520 successor.
The short term confidentiality date ends on September 30, 2026, so perhaps we will get an announcement at IFA 2026 which takes place September 4-8. The test reports reveal very little, but the device being tested is a production unit already, same as the WH-CH520 when it was tested.
The battery has changed to 3.85V in the new model, previously 3.7V in the WH-CH520. The only other information in the filing is the antenna, which seems to have been changed to a PCB antenna, previously just a chip antenna. This change should help with any connectivity issues with the current model.

That is all for the details I could see in the files, but will add anything if I notice anything important. I have the Bluetooth SoC information but this is not from the filings.
Here is the break down of all the details so far:
- Short term confidentiality date ends on September 30, 2026
- possible announcement late August 2026/early September 2026
- No noise cancellation
- 6 colours
- Black. White, Blue, Pink, Mint Green, Red
- Bluetooth SoC – Airoha AB1571 (or AB1577)
- Battery 3.85V (no capacity provided)
For the past import filings, see the post below.
Update 10 – July 15
A much much older certification from TDRA. I could not access the site previously, so I could not grab the certification. The cert is from early May 2026.
Update 9 – June 19
Some more additional imports, nothing really new revealed. These are from late May, so recent. It seems like the model is being prepared for production or is already in production. Hopefully the name will be revealed in a future import filing.
Update 8 – June 1
New certification last week from Malaysia

There are some new import filings as well. The filings are for various moulds for the headset, for various parts like the housing, headband, click plate, MF (multi-function) button, volume button, and for the stainless steel slider.
Update 7 – May 17
Some new import filings have appeared (too many to post), not revealing anything new except for some updated colour naming, and the model colour codes, which follow the names.
- Black (B)
- Off White (W)
- Cobalt Blue (L)
- Mint Green (G)
- Pink (P)
- Coral Red (R)

The imports for all the colours follow this pattern in the above photo for the black model. We have 1 import into Australia, 1 into the UK, and 3-4 into Japan. This could be for testing for the dealers/stores, unless it is also for certification. I do wonder if we might see this model get revealed earlier than September?
Update 6 – May 9
We have a certification in Mexico. The headset is slowly moving through certification but it is much quicker than I anticipated. Still think we will see an August announcement.

Update 5 – May 3
The headset has been certified in China.

Update 4 – April 24
The headset has been certified in Indonesia, confirming it is made in Vietnam.
Update 3 – April 14
New certification on IMDA.

Update 2 – April 13
The headset has been certified in Canada.

Update 1 – April 6
The model has been certified in Korea. The certification reveals that the new model will be made in Vietnam.
