Sony YY3013 Certified on FCC
Sony’s YY3013 already appeared in Apple’s MFi certification in late April, but I wanted to wait for the FCC filing before making a post, as this would reveal a lot more information.
The import filings partly hinted at an over-ear model, and thanks to the FCC filing we have a confirmation that YY3013 is indeed an over-ear model. The major reveal from the filing is the presence of noise cancellation.

The battery details are another interesting reveal, as the headset uses a 3.7V battery, rather than 3.85V which Sony has been using on many of their recent models. The only other over-ear model in Sony’s lineup with a 3.7V battery is the WH-CH520 I believe. No battery capacity or manufacturer is provided in the report.
As I mentioned in my previous YY3013 post, this headset is using an unknown Mediatek SoC, rather than Airoha. I do not have the chip model, but I am working on trying to find that out. Sony switching to a Mediatek chip for a low end model would be surprising, but Sony did use the Mediatek MT2822 in the entry level INZONE H5 (WH-G500).
The wireless antenna is a chip based, just like the WH-CH520, WH-CH510 and WH-CH500. The antenna is made by TDK Corporation.

So the details are pointing to an entry level model with ANC, using an unknown Mediatek SoC. But is this what this is?
There is one aspect in the test report that kind of jumps out, and that is the test location.

All of the testing was carried out at Sony’s laboratory in Japan. This lab is generally reserved for testing Sony’s premium models, like the WH-100XM4, WH-1000XM6, or WF-1000XM6.
Sony tends to outsource testing of their low and midrange models to outside firms like Audix or CTK Co Ltd. For example the WH-CH520 and its predecessors were all tested by CTK Co Ltd, just like YY3005, which from all the details we know, is the prime candidate as the WH-CH520 successor. Perhaps the test site is not really important here, and Sony just decided to use it, as it was available.
The FCC short term confidentiality date is December 9th 2026, meaning we will see this revealed later this year, closer to November time frame. From what I know, YY3013 is a 2026 model headset.
So what are we looking at here? Entry level with ANC? Or higher end model? I am not sure. Depending which countries you check, there is a room for a model between the WH-CH520 and WH-CH720N, but it would be a small difference. If YY3006 is the WH-CH720N replacement, perhaps that will be moving up market to a higher price point to make room for YY3013? I do not have any concrete details to share at this point.

The headset has been certified in Canada and in Singapore.


Update 1 – June 22
The headset has been certified in Indonesia, revealing that the model is made in Malaysia, just like the WH-1000XM6.
