When will Sony India announce the WF-1000XM6?

I have received quite a few messages and emails asking me if I know when Sony India will announce the WF-1000XM6 locally. Unfortunately I do not have an exact date for the announcement, as I do not have any contacts from India.

The Sony WF-1000XM6 did pass through India’s Bureau of Standards earlier this year, indicating a upcoming release. Below is the certification, one for the earphones (May 5, 2026), and the other for the charging case (April 4 2026).

We can use past model announcement and certification dates in order to estimate a potential WF-1000XM6 announcement date.

The length of time between certification and announcement varies quite significantly. A potential WF-1000XM6 announcement based off the previous 1000X model timeframe (~160-170 days), would put an announcement date of around early to mid October 2026 if we use the earlier certification date. Using the May 5th date, would result in an announcement around mid to late October 2026.

Using the LinkBuds model timeframe (~220 days), the announcement date would be pushed all the way back to end of November 2026 and up to early December 2026. This seems rather late, and unlikely in my opinion.

Another method to determine a possible Indian announcement, is to compare the length of time between international and Indian announcements.

The difference in days between the XM4 and XM5 is rather significant, and perhaps not the best indicator for a potential release date. If we use the LinkBuds Fit and Clip length of time, around 180 days, a potential announcement date would fall around mid to late October 2026 to early November 2026.

An announcement could be as early as September, but I suspect we might see an October announcement. Although an August reveal is also not out of the question. Whether my prediction will be accurate remains to be seen. Regardless of the release date, the WF-1000XM6 has been certified in India, so it will be released in the upcoming months.
