Sony YY3005 confirmed as WH-CH530
Thanks to new import filings, we have confirmation that YY3005 will be use WH-CH530 as the model name.
The import filing has also re-affirmed the colours of the new headset, I wrote about a while back.
- Black
- White
- Pink
- Red
- Mint Green
- Blue
Another recent (June 2026) import filing has also re-affirms the manufacturer, Cresyn.
An announcement should be coming soon, most likely in August, but early September is also a possible based off the FCC confidentiality end date of September 30th.
I did suspect in my original post that this could be a WH-CH520 successor, and it turns out my hunch was correct. I am curious to see what improvements and changes the new headset will bring, I am hoping for LC3 support, but LDAC support would also be appreciated, as some entry level models on the market do offer LDAC support, and are in the same price range as the WH-CH530.
Will be interesting if Sony keeps the new model fully wireless or finally adds a 3,5mm port. The addition of USB Audio would help set this model apart, but I doubt Sony would add it.
Update 1 – August 2
I forgot to add this information when I posted the import filings. This headset (YY3005) has been certified by Apple in their MFi database.
While we have the 6 different region, UC, J, IN, E, CN, and CE7, we also 2 additional entries, YY3005SA with UC and CE7. CE7 covers Europe, including East European area, CIS area (Moldova, Ukraine) and Middle East area (Israel) models, where as UC covers US, Canadian, and Latin American area models. This would suggest in these 2 locations, we should see a version of this headset with SA in the model name.
For anyone unfamiliar with the SA model name, the Sony WH-1000XM5 first used it if I recall correctly, in its last year. I did not cover this on the blog, but this information can be found in the guide, specifically this page. The SA model swaps out the carrying case for a carrying pouch.
So what could a WH-CH530SA model include? Will it also be a carrying pouch like the WH-1000XM5SA? Or is it something else? None of the past WH-CH5xx models ever included a carrying case or pouch. Also why only in 2 regions, and not globally? More mysteries. Hopefully something leaks soon.
