Sony YY7872E, YY7873E, YY7874E Wireless Speakers
Sony is working on a few new wireless speakers, and two new models were recently certified, YY7872E and YY7874E.
YY7872E
This model appeared on Sony’s servers a while back, but there were no certifications or import at that time, until now.
We have a regular UL solution certification on the UL site, and the actual cerrtification details from IECEE.

The IECEE certification reveals a few details, like the power rating, and the description “Wireless speaker, Home Audio System (Only for LA9)”.

Searching for LA9 and Sony, I can only find HT-S60/LA9, which is the Bravia Theatre System 6. So perhaps this is an additional wireless speaker for the system? Which could mean the design of the new speaker might follow the Bravia Theatre System 6.

There is an import filing with identical voltage details, 120-240V, and an output of 57W, which is probably the power consumption. The import does reveal the size of the wireless speaker, 36 x 36 x 10 cm, but is this standing upright or laying flat? Looking at the Theatre System 6, it could be either way.

So from the information we have so far, it seems that this should be a new wireless speaker addition to the Sony Bravia Theatre System.
Update 1 – October 3
A certification from Singapore has appeared.

YY7874E
This new model also popped up on Sony’s server at the same time as YY7872E. The model has an input of 5V and 0.5A, which could hint at a USB rechargeable model. The IECEE certification is from about 2 weeks. I was hoping some imports would appear, but so far nothing. The IECEE certification has no mention of a Home Audio System, so perhaps this is a stand alone model, maybe a new addition to the ULT line, or a replacement of a current ULT speaker.

Update 2 – October 5
The speaker has been certified in Malaysia.

Update 1 – October 1
The speaker was certified in China.

YY7873E
Just like the two models, YY7873E also is present on Sony’s servers, but there are no imports or certifications online yet. So for now, it is a mysterious unknown upcoming model. I suspect it will be wireless as well, but that is just a hunch.
Update – October 1
The model received a certification in China, confirming that yes it is a wireless Bluetooth speaker.
