Did the Sony Xperia 1 VIII just hit the FCC?

A new Sony smartphone has appeared on the FCC, PY7-30515Z, is this the new Xperia 1 VIII?

The new filing was submitted back in late March 2026, but only became available today, April 13. There are not many details revealed by the filing, but since it comes with wireless charging, I would venture to guess this is the new Xperia 1 VIII. This year’s submission is much earlier than last year, which was submitted to the FCC and became available on April 17th. Whether this has any effect on the announcement date is unknown. Maybe.

The wireless testing looks like it was performed in Taiwan by Sporton International Inc. EMC & Wireless Communications Laboratory. This is not the same company that did the testing for the 1 VII or even 10 VII. Perhaps there was a change on account of the leak last year? Could be. Nothing has appeared on the Taiwanese certification site yet.

There does look to be a 3.5mm audio jack as the MDR-EX15AP is used in several tests, and this headset uses a 3.5mm connector. Likewise earphone jack is mentioned in several of the filings. So those wanting Sony to keep the jack, looks like it is here to stay for this generation as well.

Apart from that, not much else which I can see. WiFi 7 is supported, as “be” is supported, along with many various bands, which I can post if people want me to. Edit, 5G band support, similar bands on the 1 VII FCC filing as well.

With the FCC appearance, hopefully we will get some new leaks and details in the near term.

If anyone wishes to send in some details on the phone, please contact me.

Update 2 – April 24

Steve from Onleaks has posted their CAD render and it seems to be similar to the leaked case and my photoshop. Will be interesting if this turns out to be the design.
